Waterproofing membranes resist standing water and hydrostatic pressure below grade. Damp-proofing coatings only resist moisture vapor and light surface moisture. ASTM D7832/D7832M lists minimum performance attributes for waterproofing membranes applied to below-grade walls enclosing interior space.
