Gallons are more commonly useful for water, admixture dosing, and container-volume context, while concrete quantity itself is normally expressed in cubic feet, cubic yards, or cubic meters in the United States.

Converting Bagged Concrete Yield to Project Volume

A standard 80-lb bag of bagged concrete mix has a published yield of approximately 0.60 ft³. Converting that to cubic yards: 0.60 ÷ 27 ≈ 0.02222 yd³. Converting Concrete Volume to Square-Foot Coverage
Volume cannot be converted to area until a thickness is supplied.
Formula
A = V ÷ T, with compatible units. For 1 yd³ (27 ft³) at 4 in. thickness: T = 4 ÷ 12 = 1/3 ft, so A = 27 ÷ (1/3) = 81 ft².

Unit conversion does not calculate project geometry automatically. Area cannot be converted to volume without a known thickness. Volume conversion does not account for waste, and it does not determine how much ready-mix should actually be ordered. Bag weight cannot be directly converted into concrete volume without the product’s published yield. Concrete weight cannot be determined from volume without density. Coverage cannot be determined from volume without depth. Gallon values on this page mean U.S. liquid gallons unless stated otherwise. Rounded chart values may differ slightly from high-precision calculator outputs. Engineering and specification work should use the unit system and precision appropriate to the governing documents.
